Overview

OUR beloved Russian Red head! Gemma Rose

Details

Gemma Rose is a champion bloodlines breeding from a premier Russian Kennel. Pride of Russia kennels is one of the most prestigious kennels in Russia and has hundreds of Champions all over Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe and beyond. They exhibit their dogs all over Europe and win everywhere they go. Gemma Rose is from a very well known breeding called the 'R" Litter. Her litter mates are all champions already and have progeny that are also winning all over Europe. We are the only breeders in the USA to have anything from this fabulous litter. The litter mates are found in Doberman Review website and can be searched for and find them all winning and are all championed. Her entire litter is champion's around the world. We had already finished her by the time we discovered that she had been harboring a eye inflammation issue in her eyes for many months and did not know she had any issues with her eyes until she developed the cataracts which is called "Juvenile Cataracts' and it is a common but not terribly common condition. None of her parents or grand parents or siblings carry this issue. We are not sure why she developed it, but because we do not find it in her parentage and we do not have any siblings with the condition we are breeding her to find out if the condition is inherited or not. She is the only puppy out of the litter who developed a condition called "Juvenile Cataracts" We have chosen to breed her and provide insurance for the puppies for the first year of their life because Juvenile cataracts and eye issues like PHPLV show up by the time the puppy is about 6-7 weeks of age. ALL the puppies will be tested for PHPLV and for juvenile cataracts before they are sold and if an eye issue is discovered in any of her progeny, We have decided that then she will be spayed as then we will know that the issue is congenital and did not develop because of something that happened to her before we purchased her at 4 months of age. All puppies will be screened for eyes and VWD and for thyroid before they are placed/sold. We expect that there could be a chance that this is a hereditary condition, but there is NO conclusive proof yet that Juvenile cataracts in Dobermans is a hereditary condition. We have done extensive research on this condition in this breed and it is still considered an 'unknown" transmission disease. It is true that There is NO conclusive evidence yet in many breeds regarding Juvenile cataract condition. Juvenile cataracts can be treated with a surgery and the surgery is covered by insurance and dogs regain 100% vision after the surgery so Gemma's eye sight is normal now and she has NO other eye issues. She is a gorgeous girl, with beautiful conformation! We feel strongly that the Juvenile cataracts is a result of an eye infection she had that we were not aware of and the Veterinarian who was the eye specialist said, that he could not tell by looking if the issue was congenital or not. When shown in both UKC and IABCA show ring's, Every written critique from every Judge who has seen her has been the same "Gorgeous bone, beautiful topline, wonderful movement and fabulous drive", perfect planes of the head, lovely head and jaw and wonderful tail set. She is a magnificent Doberman with fabulous DRIVE and will make a marvelous IPO dog when we can and do get her with a trainer. She will be handled by a professional trainer in the IPO ring hopefully we will start that training with her by the end of this year!
