Rest in peace, little warrior princess

Xena was adopted alongside her sister Hermione in February 2012. They had been living in a tiny guinea pig cage with a wheel that was too small and sugary food (degus are intolerate of sugar and can develop diabetes very easily if fed sugary food, even fruit). They had little to do but groom each other, so that when they arrived here their feet were bald and they had bald patches all over. Xena and her sister did not go along with our other two degus, so we built a second cage for them. In September 2013, Xena suddenly fell ill. She was brought to the vet and got antibiotics, but unfortunately it was already too late. Our little warrior princess fought bravely to stay alive all night, but we lost her in the morning on September 30th, 2013. i hope that wherever she is now, that she has plenty of nuts available and endless plains to run on.
