Austin Mohone - I lost my best friend!

Suddenly Austin’s happy expression turned sad. “Just two weeks ago we had to put my dog, Angel, to sleep,” Austin shared with M. “She was getting old and she had really bad arthritis, so it was hard for her to walk and play. My mom and I decided with the veterinarian that it was best to put her to sleep. I was there for it – it was so sad.”

Since Angel was such a big part of the family it was hard for Austin to say goodbye to her – that dog meant everything to him and was his lifelong pal. “She was my best friend,” Austin confides to M. “She was always there with me and was like a person. I used to want to sleep with her so I’d be like, ‘Angel, come on my bed!’ And she’d lay there for like two seconds and then get up and walk away. I’d be like, ‘Oh, come on.’ She was funny.”

Now Austin keeps Angel’s memory alive by recalling the fun times they had together. “I was five years old when we got her,” he tells M. “We were at the breeder’s house and Angel was running around me. Then, she hopped in my jacket pocket and stayed there! I was like, ‘Okay, lets go home!'” While Angel ruled the Mahone house for 11 years, two cate were added to the mix as well!

“Angel didn’t really like the two cats, Anthony and Romo, that much,” Austin Laughs. “We had to keep them in separate rooms and at one point, my grandma was even taking care of the cats. But Angel warmed up to them eventually.” Although Austin misses Angel everyday, he is lucky to have his cats around at home, and he keeps Angel close to his heart at all times. “Angel was getting old, so we know it was best for her,” Austin shares with us. “But she will always be my Angel.” Aww, can this guy get any sweeter?
