Canaries are actualy members of the finch family and native to the Canary Islands. The indiginous Canary is green-yellow with yellow underparts and fortunately the domestic Canary comes in many wonderful colors. They can live up to ten years, males are known for their superior songs over the females, do not require a great deal of general care, and since they aren't overly social birds they can happily live alone.
